Zusammenfassung: | The synergistic inhibitory action of cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) and different halides on the corrosion of mild steel in 0.5 M H sub(2)SO sub(4) has been investigated using electrochemical methods and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Experimental results showed that the protection efficiency (P sub(icor)) of CPC improved in the presence of the different halides with different extents. Chemisorption was proposed from the trend of Picorand the values of P sub(icor) and the values of Delta G super(0) sub(ads). The synergism parameter is found to be greater than unity indicating that the enhanced P sub(icor) caused by the addition of the halides to the CPC is due to a co-operative adsorption of both species. |
