Zusammenfassung: | This article looks at the effectiveness of implementation of the Convention on Limitation of Liability for Maritime Claims. It outlines the changes of the 1976 Convention from the 1957 Convention and discusses some of the difficulties involved with the new Convention such as tonnage measurement and the new system of calculation of the limitation fund. The 1976 Convention has now been ratified by 13 countries but still is not a dominant actor in international shipping and until it does the existing complex system remains above the uniformity and sanity which the Convention offers. |
