Zusammenfassung:This study analyzes the relationship between diameter (d) and height (h) of individuals of species in a fragment of Araucaria Forest in southern Parana. The relationship was assessed of two variables and the slenderness rate, as well as by fitting hypsometric equations. Data came from the diameter at breast height (dbh) and total height of 1,587 trees in three plots with total area of 3.5 hectares. Data was stratified by species groups. The dbh relationship proved strongest for Araucaria angustifolia than for hardwoods. The slenderness rate had lower width for A. augustifolia. Stratification of data by family improves the analysis and equation fitting, but is insufficient to explain variations in the d-h relation.Original Abstract: O presente estudo analisa a relacao entre o diametro (d) e a altura (h) de individuos de especies lenhosas em uma Floresta Ombrofila Mista no sul do Parana. A relacao foi avaliada por duas variaveis e pelo Grau de Esbeltez, bem como pelo ajuste de equacoes hipsometricas. Foram medidos diametro a altura do peito (dap) e altura total de 1.587 arvores em tres parcelas com area total de 3,5 hectares. Os dados foram estratificados por grupos de especies. A relacao d-h se mostrou mais forte para a Araucaria angustiofolia (Bert.) O. Kuntze do que para as especies folhosas. O Grau de Esbeltez apresentou menor amplitude para A. angustifolia. A estratificacao por familias melhora a analise e o ajuste de equacoes, mas e insuficiente para explicar variacoes na relacao d-h.
