Zusammenfassung:Summer diets of Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensis) were quantified from microhistological analyses of feces and direct observation of foraging sheep. The leaves of woody plants, especially true mountainmahogany (Cercocarpus montanus), constituted 73-94% of the summer diets. Shrubs providing preferred forage on summer ranges of low-elevation populations of Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep can be important and should be retained when managing sheep habitat.
