The author, while presenting the variables that guide the macroform of Istanbul in 1980-2000 period and post-2000, also draws attention to the problem of expansion that the city faces. She once more shows that the projects 'promised' during the 2011 General Elections, like the building of the 3rd Bridge to Bosporus and planning of settlements with a population of 1 million at both banks of the city are projects that directly determine the macroform of the city and these will end up consuming all vital sources of Istanbul, whose population is projected to rise to 22-23 million in 2023.
