Gulay Hasdogan, associate professor and chairperson of the department of industrial design at Middle East Technical University (METU) in Turkey, presents an analysis of the biannual state-supported Turkish industrial design awards, Design Turkey Industrial Design Awards. The article examines the characteristics of winning designs, and discusses the evaluation criteria of the award scheme, basing the research on consultations with industrial design scholars, professionals and experts in Turkey.
