Zusammenfassung:Improvements in science literacy at the elementary level require improvements in the training and support of educators, as well as field and lab opportunities for children to participate actively in science. The science education program Animal Ambassadors, sponsored by the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, cultivates awareness of animal-related concepts in the context of developing critical thinking and life skills. The program has been implemented by 4-H youth volunteers in San Luis Obispo County. This cross-age education was effective for both age groups.
