N-ViroTech super( registered )-a Novel Process for the Treatment of Nutrient Limited Wastewaters

The recently developed N-ViroTech super( registered ) process relies on communities of nitrogen-fixing bacteria for the treatment of nutrient-limited wastewaters. The process involves the manipulation of growth conditions within the biological system to maintain a N sub(2)-fixing population while achieving the treatment goals. An overview of the process is provided, citing data on its applicability to different wastewater sources, the optimal operating conditions, and system conversion requirements. The data show that the method is self-regulating, achieving very low nutrient discharges and high organic carbon removals.
