Zusammenfassung: | As part of a continuing programme of research into in vitro systems in these laboratories, a modified hydra assay has been developed in which effects of test substances on intact adult polyps are compared with those on the regenerating isolated adult digestive region. Using this method, effects on re-differentiation rather than on re-organization can be investigated. The "Hydra regeneration assay" offers a rapid early screen for the investigation of the teratogenic potential of new compounds. The results obtained to date with known teratogens are in general agreement with results recorded in vivo. Further studies are in progress to corroborate these findings. |
