Zusammenfassung:A small, unsheltered, hypereutrophic, polluted lake failed to turnover in Spring 1986, owing to chemical stratification under the ice because of ionic wastes discharged from an alkali plant. This had a negative impact on the oxygen resources of the lower layers of the lake. The characteristics observed of low temperature coinciding with anoxia led to the identification of about 7 similar occurrences since 1968.
