Monascella, a new genus of Ascomycota

An Ascomycete isolated from soil, collected in Costa d'en Blanes, Mallorca (Spain) and sent to the authors by Mr. Monataner, could not be classified in any known taxon and consequently is described as new. Monascella botryosa Guarro et v. Arx, gen. and spec. nov.
