Zusammenfassung: | Tests were conducted under laboratory conditions to evaluate the photocatalytic destruction of vinyl chloride (VC). Findings from these tests were subsequently compared against findings from tests investigating trichloroethylene (TCE) photocatalysis. Samples of a granular photocatalyst used in these tests consisted of silica support coated with 0.1% titanium dioxide. As part of the experimental regime, polluted air containing elevated levels of VC or TCE were passed through a UV annular reactor at diverse concentrations and residence times. Several important aspects of the experimental regime are detailed, including the source of UV illumination and operating temperature. Researchers found that the overall removal performance of the photoreactor was approximately 1000 g VC per m super(3) photocatalyst per hour. |
