Determination of Cd-binding proteins similar to metallothionein in the digestive gland of Mytilus galloprovincialis with regard to a preliminary treatment of the sample

A study was conducted examining methodological problems associated with the preparation of samples of metallothionein-like proteins form M. galloprovincialis digestive glands. Various preliminary treatments were evaluated: heat treatment, protease inhibitor addition, 2-mercaptoethanol addition, and ultracentrifugation.
