Zusammenfassung: | Biogenic hydrogen sulphide emissions from typical Florida wetland surfaces are described. The emission rates were used to estimate the total biogenic sulphur released from Florida wetlands. The wetland surfaces were enclosed by transparent polycarbonate cylinders and the hydrogen sulphide was collected on silver nitrate-impregnated filters, to be analysed fluorometrically. The highest rate measured was 0.272 g sulphur per m2.year, from a mangrove swamp. The total biogenic emission from the wetlands was an insignificant contributor to Florida's total atmospheric sulphur burden, when compared with anthropogenic sulphur sources. |
