Zusammenfassung: | Species of birds breeding in Ohio were ranked according to the level of management concern, based on seven criteria. Three global criteria were global abundance, breeding distribution, and wintering distribution. Other criteria pertained to Ohio, and included threats to breeding habitat, threats to non-breeding habitat, state population trends, and importance to the state. Ranking scores for the 187 species are tabulated. Several of the highest ranked species are or were listed as endangered, threatened, or of special interest in Ohio. The rankings indicate that landscape-level habitat acquisition and management programs are needed to prevent additional breeding bird species from being listed as endangered, threatened, or of special interest in Ohio. |
