Zusammenfassung: | Purpose - The purpose of this column is to examine the current discussion of massive open online courses (MOOCs) and the library's involvement in this worldwide movement.Design methodology approach - The paper takes the form of a literature review and commentary on this topic that has been addressed by professionals, researchers and practitioners.Findings - The study finds that MOOCs may offer colleges the opportunity to accept the democratization of learning for all who wish to engage. Librarians have a chance to extend their influence in the development of MOOCs as an integral component in this new model.Originality value - The value in addressing this issue is to suggest the benefits that the library can bring to this burgeoning form of online learning. |
