Zusammenfassung: | A no-choice laboratory bioassay was used to screen soybean plant introductions (PI) for resistance to bean leaf beetle (BLB), Cerotoma trifurcata (Forster), and banded cucumber beetle (BCB), Diabrotica balteata LeConte. PI's 171444, 171451, and 229358 exhibited resistance to BLB but not to a significantly greater degree than the commercial cultivar "Davis". PI's 171444, 171451, 227687, 229358, and 417061 demonstrated resistance to BCB, with PI's 417061 and 229358 expressing the greatest degree of resistance. BLB consumed ca. 2-fold more foliage than BCB. Female BLB consumed significantly more foliage than males in the June and July generations but not in the diapausing August generation. |
