Outdoor Adventure Education in Canada: Seeking the Country Way Back In

The philosophical underpinnings of outdoor adventure education in Canada are explained. The uniquely Canadian nature of such education is highlighted, with reference to the pursuit for wild nature, camping and travel skills, intra- and interpersonal skills, survival and bushcraft skills, and nature and heritage interpretation. Elements of programs offered at youth camps, schools, universities, colleges, community organizations, and commercial travel services are described.
