Zusammenfassung:Calmodulins (CaM) are probably involved in all motile systems of protists. It is generally believed that calmodulin shares regulatory roles is stimulus-contraction coupling as a plasma membrane component and a messenger (sensory transducer). In some contractile systems CaM regulates actin-myosin interaction. Both CaM multiplied by Ca and cAMP are fundamental regulators of cilia and flagella activity. Most details of the mechanism of CaM action are unknown and the role of calmodulin in particular motile systems of protists has not been determined.
