Biomonitoring of Trace Element with Lichens in Veneto (NE Italy)

Foliose lichen Xanthoria parietina samples were collected throughout the region of Veneto in northeastern Italy, and trace elements were measured by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. The concentration data were used to derive two maps for each element, which are provided, one showing the joint distribution of elements close to the Italian background, and the other for elements that deviated strongly from background levels. The hot spots for each element are delineated.
