Zusammenfassung: | Results are presented from a project seeking to quantify the effective dose for occupationally exposed individuals working in diagnostic and interventional arteriography. Researchers derived a new set of air kerma to organ dose conversion coefficients using Monte Carlo radiation transport computations. Techniques used to account for the attenuative influence of protective clothing are detailed. Values for the effective dose were determined from the dose conversion coefficients and data detailing entrance doses evaluated at the forehead, neck, thorax, abdomen, upper arms, hands, and lower legs of employees. Average values for the effective dose were determined for a range of different procedures conducted at three hospitals in the Netherlands. |
