Zusammenfassung: | The chlordane/nonachlor ratio was monitored for two years in suspended sediment taken from 17 sites along the Mississippi River and its major tributaries from St. Louis to New Orleans. Wide variations in the ratio were attributed to variations the amount of weathered technical chlordane present in the suspended sediment. Spring runoff was a major factor in these variations. Suspended sediment probably transports 110 and 100 kg of chlordane and nonachlor, respectively, to the Gulf of Mexico. |
