Zusammenfassung: | The authors have previously reported that the morphological transformation of sea urchin coelomocytes is sensitive to calmodulin inhibitory agents. To determine what role calmodulin might play in this motile phenomenon the authors first sought to identify calmodulin in these cells and then determine the targets of calmodulin regulation. A Polypeptide was isolated from coelomocytes which exhibits characteristics reported for calmodulins from other sources. The data support the hypothesis that coelomocyte morphological transformation is mediated by calmodulin's regulation of cytoskeletal organization, possible through membrane cytoskeletal interactions. |
