Zusammenfassung: | The authors discuss characteristics of the ice-covered seas of the Arctic that are desirable to study, such as, where the ice is, its Velocity, the ice type, its thickness, its properties and where the thin ice areas and open leads are located. Because the ice is pushed by the winds and currents, it is also necessary to know these characteristics as well as the air temperature and the surface radiation balance among others. Currently developed and planned data acquisition systems are discussed. |
