Zusammenfassung: | Sumit (CR 662-22-1-1-1-1), an high yielding rice (Oriza sativa L.) variety has been developed by Crop Improvement Division, Central Rice Research Institute, Cuttack, Odisha. It was released by Odisha State Seed Sub-Committee held on 25-01-2012. The variety was subsequently notified by Central Sub-Committee n crop Standards, Notification Release of Varieties for Agricultural Crops, Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India vide Notification No. S.O. 2126 (E) dated 3 super(rd) November 2012. The variety Sumit has been recommended for cultivation in the states of Odisha, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Maharastra under rainfed low land/irrigated late situations. The major objective of breeding was to develop a variety with in-built resistance to major diseases and insect pests with high yield potential for well managed favorable rainfed shallow lowland and irrigated conditions. The elite breeding line CR 662-22-1-1-1-1 (IET 19913) was selected from the segregating materials from a cross IR32/IR13246. IR32 was previously known as experimental line number IR 2070-747-6-3-2. It is a derivative from a cross, IR20/Oryza nivara/CR94-13 with late maturity. IR 13246 has got strong culm with broad and thick boot leaf. The genotype produces a long panicle with higher grain yield. It is the derivative of the cross IR 34/IR 18967. |
