Zusammenfassung: | All species of the staphylinid genus Aleochara Gravenhorst of which the life history is known live as solitary ectoparasitoids of pupae, inside the puparia, of cycloraphous Diptera as larvae, and as predators of eggs and larvae of the latter as adults. Although the life histories of most species of Aleochara still remain unknown, it is strongly believed that the larvae of all species of the genus live as parasitoids. To date, dipteran hosts have been recorded for only 10 of the 47 species of Aleochara recorded for the Nearctic region. In order to better understand the coevolution of the two groups, host-ectoparasitoid, and to better elucidate the phylogeny of Aleochara , it is important to know the dipteran hosts for all species. This note provides new host data for A. notula Erichson. |
