Zusammenfassung: | In Norway the atmospheric deposition of lead, cadmium, and other elements is about 10-fold higher in the Southern than in the Northern regions. A study was launched to see if similar regional differences were detectable in metal loads of domestic animals grazing in different parts of the nation. Heavy metal levels in lamb livers were determined as indicators of fallout. Results strongly suggest that there is a relation between atmospheric deposition and intake of Pb in lambs. Enhanced metal uptake was observed in animals from Southern areas. ( 1 graph, 1 map, 19 references, 2 tables, ) |
