Zusammenfassung:Six species of tridacnid clams were induced to spawn by intragonadal injection of 2 m M serotonin solution. Dosages ranging from 0.5 ml to 7.0 ml were tested in situ and in laboratory-held clams. Mean time to first-spawning of sperm in all species ranged from 1.7 to 3.8 min. Egg spawning followed sperm in four species but only reliably in Hippopus hippopus.
