Zusammenfassung:The resistance of various filamentous organisms associated with activated sludge bulking to monochloramine was determined. Filaments were enumerated based on ATP concentration as measured by a new luciferin/luciferase method. The technique involves the use of internal standards, and is based on the relationship between light production and ATP concentration. Comparison of ATP and standard plate count results indicates that monochloramine prevents reproduction before it affects metabolic activity.
