The influence of the characteristics hydrodynamic and morphological in the distribution of 210 PB the superficial sediments of the Bay of Cienfuegos, Cuba

The distribution pattern of 210Pb in the sediments of the Cienfuegos Bay is presented. These data were collected during the oceanographic campaign 'Jagua' carried out between May and June of 2006. The 210 PB reached an average value of 71.3 mBqKg super(-1) in the range 30.8 to 205.5 mBqKg super(-1). An accumulation area of 210Pb was observed with high peaks in the south lobe of the study area. That process responds to the morphological and hydrodynamic characteristics of this sector of the bay, mainly caused by the water circulation pattern.Original Abstract: Se presenta la distribucion de 210Pb en los sedimentos de la Bahia de Cienfuegos colectados durante la campana oceanografica Jagua, desarrollada entre los meses Mayo a Junio del 2006. El 210 PB alcanzo un valor medio de 71.3 mBqKg super(-1) en un rango de 30.8 - 205.5 mBqKg super(-1). Existe un area de acumulacion de 210Pb en el lobulo sur de la Bahia de Cienfuegos que responde a las caracteristicas morfologicas e hidrodinamicas de este sector de la bahia, en particular al patron de circulacion de las aguas y la profundidad de la bahia.
