Zusammenfassung: | The main purpose of the article was to present principles and values of the Solution Focused Brief Therapy for social work practice. The author refers to Rosenfield and Wenzel work on relationship between social networks and quality of life among people with chronic mental illness and the role of self-esteem in increasing of patients' well-being. The evaluation studies on SFBT in different settings (probation centers, classrooms, psychiatric hospitals, colleges etc.) demonstrate positive effects. SFBT delivers tools to enhance individuals' self-esteem and self-efficacy. The author recommends application of the SFBT into social work programmes designed to some welfare categories: psychiatric patients, the addicts, the unemployed or clients with internalizing behavior problems.
