Zusammenfassung:During the 1960s and 1970s, with the emergence of the Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano (NCL -- New Latin American cinema), many filmmakers, critics and theorists saw themselves as Latin Americans and identified with Latin America and their struggles. However, in 1980s, this position loses power and space within the Latin American Audiovisual; at this moment, Latin America is not a place to stand for and a territory to be decolonized anymore. It loses power but does not disappear. From the study of two contemporary films, El viaje (Fernando 'Pino' Solanas, Argentina / France / Spain / Mexico, 1992) and Caroneiros (Martina Rupp, Brazil, 2007), undertaken mainly through literature review and film analysis, the aim is to investigate: 1) Latin American identities that are proposed in these two films; 2) what Latin America these movies comprehend; and 3) the extent to which such films are divergent and / or approach the Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano. Based on the results at the end of the survey, it is possible to demonstrate the proximity between Latin America proposed by both films and those from NCL, as well as ensuring the existence of one project identity in all of them.
