Zusammenfassung:The results from interviews with private tree farmers in Wisconsin suggest that while family, ethnic, and personal identity are the key factors in motivating effective woodland management, external factors such as income, property tax incentives, cost sharing, and technical assistance are also important. These factors appear to affect the timing and extent of management decisions, while educational aspects have the greatest and most enduring effects on management practices.
