Zusammenfassung:Abstract Posttraumatic cervical spondyloptosis is the most severe form of fracture dislocation. Since its occurrence is uncommon, there is no consensus on its surgical management. Detailed description of five patients who were successfully managed through one approach (posterior or anterior) is presented, a review of the current literature is reported, and biomechanics is provided. An algorithm for the treatment of cervical spondyloptosis is then proposed.
