Zusammenfassung:Forestry management this decade will be characterized by controversy between traditional forest managers and environmentalists. The likely outcome is improved forestry management that adopts sustainable practices for multiple uses. Until then, opposing parties will continue to exhibit special-interest loyalties, technical arrogance, and misundertandings of the essential business at hand. Traditional forestry, governed by regulations, might be replaced by incentive-based forestry, in which multiple benefits and sustained use are the long-term goals.
