A Code of Practice on the International Transboundary Movement of Radioactive Waste

The Code of Practice on the Intl Transboundary Movement of Radioactive Waste was adopted in 1990 by the IAEA. The Code conforms with the relevant principles and norms of international law. It relies on existing international standards for the safe transport of radioactive material and the physical protection of nuclear material for basic nuclear safety, radiation protection, and radioactive waste management. Even though the Code is now a valid instrument, its real value will depend on the degree of compliance achieved.
