Zusammenfassung: | Water column and stream measurements of the following trace metals are given for the Hoare lake system: iron, manganese, cobalt, nickel, zinc, cadmium, copper and lead. Trace metal concentrations and representative inflows, and loadings, lake contents, and residence times, are summarized in two tables. Except for cadmium, the metals showed little tendency to accumulate in the upper reservoir. Residence times for trace and major elements were comparable to those found in the oceans. Particle reactive elements behaved in a similar manner in different closed aquatic systems, and underwent rapid removal compared with major elements. Manganese, iron, and cobalt had the shortest residence times. |
