Zusammenfassung:	Significant differences were found among silks of corn, Zea mays L., for both relative maysin concentration and corn earworm, Heliothis zea (Boddie), larval weight. A decrease in maysin concentration was found in only one test year as age of silks increased. However, in all test years (1979-1983), significant decreases in corn earworm growth were found as the age of silks increased. Since no significant relationship was found between maysin concentration of corn silks and corn earworm growth, maysin is probably one of several factors that condition resistance to corn earworm in "Zapalote Chico" silks.
