Synthesis of N-(2- super(3)H) acetyl-D-muramyl-L-alanyl-D-iso-glutaminyl-L-alanyl-2-(1',2'-dipal mitoyl-sn-glycero-3'-phosphoryl) ethylamide of high specific radioactivity

The title compound (MTP-cephalin) was synthesised with specific activity of 22 Ci mmol super(-1 and with radiochemical purity of 96-98% by a direct radiochemical synthesis using ()u3H)muramyl dipeptide. Several unsuccessful approaches to the target compound are documented.
