Zusammenfassung:	Mortality was increased in 4-week old male chickens exposed to 500 ppm mercury (as mercuric chloride) in drinking water for up to 15 days. A significant reduction in growth, food and water consumption was evident after 3 days. Haematological analysis showed an increase in red blood cell numbers, haematocrit, mean corpuscular volume and haemoglobin and a decrease in mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration within 3 days.
