Zusammenfassung: | A first hand description is given of a herd or herds of several hundred Narwhals, Monodon monoceros , attacked by a herd of several tens of Killer Whales, Orcinus orca , in Eclipse Sound, Northwest Territories, in open water. The Killer Whales encircled the Narwhals by dividing into two groups which moved around the periphery of the prey animals in opposing directions. The attack by many killers at once then followed. |
