Zusammenfassung:The effect of short-term starvation on environmentally acquired p,p -DDE residue levels is tested in 19 nine-week old wild nestling brown pelicans. Samples of brain, liver, muscle, and fat taken after one and two weeks of starvation indicate that birds contain significantly greater residue levels in fat compared with nonstarved controls. The significance of the findings is discussed in terms of brown pelican biology.
