Zusammenfassung:	Catalytic converters installed in 1975 model cars oxidize sulfur dioxide present in the exhaust gas to a sulfur acid mist. This mist may constitute a serious health hazard. Sulfur can be removed from gasoline to any desired level by using sodium metal at 250-325 C. Sodium can also be used to desulfurize petroleum fractions before they are converted to gasoline.
