Toxicity of organic and inorganic arsenicals to an insect herbivore

Arsenicals, including organic and inorganic forms of both the trivalent and pentavalent states, are tested for their potential environmental effect on a nontarget animal species. Cacodylic acid, cacodylic acid plus sodium cacodylate, arsenic trioxide, and arsenic pentoxide are evaluated in terms of formulation, exposure time, and tissue arsenic concentrations on the survival of an exposed population of meadow katydids. The impact of herbicidal arsenic formulations on the nontarget species is described.
