Zusammenfassung:High time-resolution measurements of carbonaceous species in particulate matter (PM sub(2.5)) at an urban site of Korea were presented. It was recognized that carbonaceous particles in ambient air influenced the earth's climate due to their absorption and scattering properties. The carbonaceous fraction of ambient PM consisted of elemental carbon (EC) and a variety of organic compounds. The results showed that the distributions of EC concentrations were coincident with travel activity patterns, with a morning peak followed by a gradual decrease in the EC levels through the afternoon. It was concluded that the potential source contribution function (PSCF) analysis was useful in identifying possible source areas and the preferred pathways of carbon particles measured at the sampling site.
