Zusammenfassung:	Insect honeydew stimulation of soil non-symbiotic nitrogen fixation was investigated. Microcosm experiments showed that single sugar solutions added to soils at rates approximating honeydew deposition increased N 2 fixation rates. The common honeydew sugar, melezitose, did not stimulate N 2 fixation to a greater extent than any other honeydew sugar tested.
