Recirculating sprayer for control of lepidopterous pests of sweet corn [Heliothis zea, Ostrinia nubilalis, Spodoptera frugiperda]

An experimental sprayer designed to collect and recirculate unused spray materials was tested and compared with a conventional sprayer for the control of lepidopterous larval pests of late-planted sweet corn in Ohio from 1981 to 1983. Control of pests with the recirculating sprayer using several insecticides was as effective as that obtained using the conventional sprayer. On the average, however, the recirculating sprayer used about one-third less spray than the conventional unit.
