New method of detection for the component of low concentration in water by detector tubes

A technique has been developed for rapid detection of traces of contaminants in water and waste waters using a fine glass tube packed with a solid 'detector reagent' which changes colour with specific elements.A syringe can be used to inject a certain volume of sample into the detector tube, or one end of the tube can be dipped into the sample which is allowed to run up inside the tube; the latter is simpler to use, but the injection method is more accurate. detailed procedure is given for detection of specific substances.
