Airborne coliphages from waste-water treatment facilities. (76-2447S)
Studies were carried out on the emission from two activated-sludge plants and two biological-filtration plants of airborne coliphages that form plaques on two strains of Escherichia coli. Average coliphage levels in the airborne emissions were 2.84 x 10-1 MPN per m-3 for biological filters and 3.02...

Zusammenfassung: | Studies were carried out on the emission from two activated-sludge plants and two biological-filtration plants of airborne coliphages that form plaques on two strains of Escherichia coli. Average coliphage levels in the airborne emissions were 2.84 x 10-1 MPN per m-3 for biological filters and 3.02 x 10-1 MPN per m-3 for activated-sludge plants; the corresponding concentrations in the sewage were 4.48 x 10-5 and 2.94 x 10-6 plaque-forming units per litre respectively. |
