Zusammenfassung:Several endemics occur on certain substrates in the Owyhee Region of Malheur County, Oregon where normal vegetation is excluded. It has been hypothesized that chemical features of the substrates account for the endemism and exclusion of normal vegetation. Chemical and mineralogical test results presented here lead to the conclusion that physical rather than chemical characteristics account for plant distribution.
